Beginning Song

Does anybody know the name of the artist who sings the song in the beginning of the film? I cannot find it anywhere!

reply

Denny Brooks sang it, it was written for the film "Rolling Thunder" only a few years prior to "Ninth Configuration".

Yeah...it's a beauty. I remember thinking how odd it was being used in two movies right around the same time. Don't make movies like this anymore.

reply

Yeah, how i miss the old days.

I was amazed to hear Denny Brooks' beautiful "San Antone" at the beginning of this film, just as it's at the ending of "Rolling Thunder." I e-mailed him to see if he knew how I could find the song on vinyl, and he said he didn't have a copy -- just to check eBay.

Even though the films aren't related, I see "The Ninth Configuration" as a continuation of sorts to "Rolling Thunder." Both involve the madness of war and the search for meaning during the hardships of life.

reply

It's actually played in the beginning of both films

"San Antone" is played at the beginning of "Rolling Thunder"? I only remember it at the end. I'll have to watch it again.

reply

Yes, while Devane is getting off the plane, etc.

reply

A copy was up on ebay not too long ago.
