Why the R rating?
Just curious.

Yeah, it must have been publicity. There's nothing in here that would merit an R rating these days. Little cursing, brief gore, no sexuality to speak of... Oh well.

I remember there were some F-words in there and the bar-room sequence was intensly violent. I agree with the 'R' rating.
sharethe knife being used and the oral.. umm... yeah... all of that warrants an R rating not to mention all of the cussing thrown around now and again... esp. since "F- u" was used i think more than 1 time.. and i've already heard the 'f' word explanation by John Waters -- depends on the context used, and if it's just the 'f' word with like 'can i get the f out of here?' you can only say it 1 time for pg, 2 times gets pg13, and 3 times gets you an R and Waters wanted "Cry Baby" to be PG-13, hence 2 outward uses and 1 BLEEPED use :)
maybe they used the F word too much for their likings??
"I'm a Buddhist - In case of accident, call a Lama" (The Ninth Configuration)
It would be rated. R for Some Violence and Language.
