I wonder too I mean alot of 80s movies have gotten dvd release even teen witch got a dvd release but not little darlings? i m confused bring little darlings to dvd ! :)
I keep waiting for this one because I really love this movie. I wish Tatum would over come her problems and get back to acting because I think she's a great actress. Anyone know if Paper Moon is out yet on DVD?
I can't figure it out either. There seems to be a lot of late 1970's early 80's titles that are just sitting out of print. Makes no sense. They did just release "Over the Edge" a key early movie of Matt Dillon's so I hope this one won't be far behind.
They were warned...They are doomed...And on Friday the 13th, nothing will save them.
I haven't seen this movie, but I want to. Although the fact that it is not out on DVD is going to make that a little difficult. Paper Moon is available on DVD. I got it on Netflix anyway.
I have a feeling the reason why this film has not been released on DVD is because of song rights. When the film was re-released on video in 1992, Paramount had to make some changes, specifically some of the songs heard in the film. I've read there were two songs replaced, 'Oh My Love' by John Lennon and 'Let Your Love Flow' by the Bellamy Brothers. They replaced the two songs with generic songs. Paramount, more than likely, no longer have the rights to the other songs heard in the film. The 1992 VHS re-release is out of print. An example of a film that never saw any video release because a studio could not get song(s) clearance was Heavy Metal. It took 15 years before the studio could get song(s) clearance and release the movie on video. Hopefully, to the Little Darlings fans out there, the wait won't be as long as that.
If the DVD version you have contains the original songs, then the copy you purchased off EBAY was a pirated DVD copy taken from the early Paramount Home Video release. The film has never been officially released on DVD. You will find sellers on EBAY auctioning pirated copies on DVD.
I doubt LD will have any extras other than POSSIBLY commentary by Tatum, who in her book doesn't commit to saying much of the film.
There is that extra footage they shot for the TV version, but every one understandbly hates it (so goody goody and badly integrated into the rest of the movie) hopefully it will never see the light again !
I have been searching for this movie for years. I love the opening scene and the song was perfect. What was the name of the song...Shake it? I hope it comes out on DVD soon. It was a great movie that I would love for my children to see (before they are 40)! Maybe the problem is with the music rights, because I can not think of any other reason that this film is not out. I am impatiently awaiting it also.
Writing to Anchor Bay Entertainment is a good suggestion. Even if they can't get the rights to release it, they may be able to prod Paramount to release it on disc. If you write to them, make sure to mention the alternate footage that once aired on TV, to ensure that it makes it to disc... I'd rather see Anchor Bay get their hands on it than Paramount, since the latter is horrible when it comes to extras.
However, there have been many cases of music rights issues with Anchor Bay. I'd personally rather have a film on disc with some altered music than no disc at all (though sometimes music can completely change a film), but so many people make such a big deal out of it that I figured I'd mention it.
nnum7, you know there's a handy little thing called a "caps lock." If you click button again, all of the letters won't be huge (which is very annoying and hard to read).
I now have an archived copy of the HD(yes, high definition !) broadcast of this '80's gem. I hadn't realized there were the number of stars of today in this movie. It fuelled my nostalga for summer for decades. . ..
