At present it is NOT on dvd. I have seen a bootleg version of it floating around on ebay but I will wait until Paramount releases an official one. They are weird about releasing their back catalog on dvd, it took a VERY long time for GREASE to come out on dvd, and that was one of their biggest moneymakers. Whoever DOES release a dvd version should release an uncut version and a theatrical version, as the edits they used to show on TNT back in the early and mid 90's had several additional scenes that weren't on the official Paramount vhs release. I recorded it off TV and own the store bought tape, but would love to have them BOTH in dvd quality.

Not on DVD yet. The song "Shake It" is on Napster!

Um, if it does get a DVD release from Paramount, I can almost guarantee that the alternate scenes won't be included (or they'd have included the infamous lost ending for "April Fool's Day" when they released that to disc). Paramount isn't the company to bug. Bug Anchor Bay instead. Anchor Bay lovingly releases the films that they acquire, grabbing up as many extras as they can find. Case in point.. their releases of Disney films ("Watcher in the Woods," "Tron," "Return to Oz," etc) came after Disney's disc releases and Disney's since re-released the films with the same extras that were on the Anchor Bay discs.
Write to Anchor Bay and bug them instead. Besides, Kristy McNichol's "The Pirate Movie" is about to be released by them.

Count me as another who would love to see this one on dvd. I would like to see a special edition with the additional footage added in, the Bellamy Brothers song that was omitted on the VHS, and interviews/reflections on the film with the cast today. The scene after Dillon deflowers MacNichol is truly touching. I bet I watched this 20 times on cable back in the early 80's. Bring on the DVD!
shareI just wrote an email to [email protected] asking for the AMERICAN UNCUT VERSION WITH THE ORIGINAL SOUDTRACK. Come on everyone!, write one too!!! they do listen
shareI hope it does get a DVD release soon. But knowing Paramount, they'll probably just put it out as a bare-bones, no special features disc meant for the Wal-Mart bargain bin. At least they might spend the time/effort to get the original music rights. I hope I'm wrong.
