This movie is better than any John Hughes movie except maybe the Breakfast Club.
Critics don't seem to know that this movie is good because they are not teenage girls, and don't know what it's like.Kristy Mcnichol is awesome in this one!

whoa there!! Better than any John Hughes movie?? Don't say things you might regret. Now, I have never been a teenage girl, but I can certainly appreciate a movie like this. I actually quite enjoyed it. But better than Sixteen candles? (a teen girls perspective as well) better than Ferris Bueller? That's a bit of a stretch.

I guess you're right.Hey, i'm only 17 here, and i first saw this movie when i was 15, so this movie left a staple in my life.16 candles may be a little better than this, but i don't think Ferris Bueeler is.This movie isn't about horny teens like Ferris is.Well, it is, but it's horny girls, but it also teaches you how you should save it until you are ready. That's why this movie is so close to my heart.

The other opinion: Except of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" not one John Hughes-Movie is comparable to "Little Darlings". I still get tears in my eyes, when John Lennon's "Oh my love" tunes in. I've seen this movie the first time in 1995. The german Channel Vox showed it about 5 times in one year, because they were out of money or so. I really can't understand why there isn't a DVD around. I can ask everyone: They all know and like this movie. Lately at a table quiz in a local pub no one could answer the question, with which sportsstar Tatum O'Neal was married, because the actress was not common at all. But when I said that she was the rich girl in "Kleine Biester" (that's the german title; it means "Little Beasts" by the way) they all realized, who was meant. Also I didn't like her, when I fell in love with this movie, because Kristy McNichol took all the sympathy away, nowadays I think that her performance was even better. For example, that the pool scene with Armand Assante didn't get creepy as it could be, shows how gifted this actress was at this time.
All in all, this is a movie that I'm going to show my children one day.

I just saw this movie for the first time ever, I'd heard of it but never saw it. I'm far from a teenage girl and I have to say I LOVED this movie! And yes, I'd place it higher than some of John Hughes' films. This was really good.
I know that horses aren't all she enjoys riding when the weather is hot.
