Viewing Little Darlings...Then and Now

Funny how some things change and some things stay the same when you see a movie so many years later.

Back in the day, I admired Angel because she was obviously tough and quick witted. Even though I still like the Angel character, I see Ferris's character in a different light. She was really just as tough if you think about it...a rich girl; presumably spoiled, but won't be intimidated by the tough chick! Also, Ferris was not a stuck up character, as many believe. Everyone just treated her as if she were stuck up because she did have money. And as many already pointed out, the ending scene was classic, where both girls confess. I don't know if acting gets much better than that! I don't think I fully appreciated the powerfulness of that scene when I was a kid.

That's a very interesting post! For all her nuances, or perhaps because of them, Angel ends up more visibly outlined than her counterpart, who's substantially more difficult to pin down. Ferris has less of a chance to be herself throughout the picture - her romantic interest of choice doesn't help - but I would agree that she reveals herself to be pretty tough as well, emphasis on pretty.

Ferris had nuances as well. She wanted to go to a public school just so she could be with Gary!
