I hope not...but even if they are, it won't compare to the original.
If you love Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it copy this and make it your signature!

I don't know why they bother.
Don will fix it. He knows what that nut means to Utz and what Utz means to us.
One good thing about remakes is that they usually get the original version released on DVD. So everybody who has been hoping for a DVD should actually be happy about this potentially good news.
shareAugust 28, 2010. I just read about it. I'm sure it will be more risque-sex oriented than the original if that's possible. Probably PG-13, very close to an R.
Hopefully, this will force the studio to release the 1980 movie in DVD (perhaps Blu-Ray too). Pray, people, pray!!!
HURRAAAAYYYY. I will be looking forward to it.

With the hysteria over child porn, political correctness and the soccer mom syndrome i seriously doubt this remake will have any edge to it.Forget a braless Angel [kristy} like in the original, there will probably be a cartoon character who tries to keep their virginity . Maybe some moralizing on how bad or dangerous sex is or it will be gay vegan girls losing their virginity with each other or a black guy which is acceptable today.
shareI was wondering the same thing about Abrams directing a possible remake. Or, in his case, would it be more like a reboot? This is kind of a chick flick and doesn't seem to be his genre. Not that Abrams can't do romantic, "girlie" stuff. I'm still blown away by that whole Spock/Uhura thing! Maybe the alternate reality for Little Darlings will have different outcomes for the characters.
Maybe Abrams wants to expand his repertoire and try to appeal to a female audience. Or, like you said, it may not be related at all.
Hmmm, a version for the current generation? Instead of two 15-year olds competing to see who will be first to lose their virginity, it'll be two 18-year olds either competing to see who will get their first kiss, or who will be able to KEEP their virginity. They'll both win, and all will live happily ever after, complete with an ending song and dance routine.

Yes, it is a re-make and it's currently casting.
From The Hollywood Reporter
"Aiming even younger, Par is hoping to begin shooting a remake of the 1980s coming-of-age pic "Little Darlings" in August. Producer J.J. Abrams is looking to populate the cast with girls under 15. "

Franchise? Are you implying that they'll make a sequel to the remake, as well, etc. Little Darlings has been remade, already, when all is said and done. Look at some of the vapid teen comedies over the past 25 years. Some of the plot lines are direct lifts from Little Darlings. Besides, 90% of the what was done in the other movies is funnier in Little Darlings.
If they DO finally put out a remake, make sure the music rights are all sewn up. If not, the next version will also sit on the shelf. I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of people out there who would payoff whomever had to be paid off (are you listening, YOKO????) so that it could be released. Unfortunately for us, it will probably be a bare-bones release and in pan and scan. After 30 years, we deserve a special edition! You KNOW you'd buy it!
I doubt that's true. It sounds like it's just a "fake" movie to hide what JJ Abrams next movie really is.
A superhero never reveals their true identityshare
Honestly, if they really do make a remake of this movie ill be pissed off. If they make it today, itll probably be some perverted stupid comedy or a kiddy "high school musical" feel movie (not that theres anything wrong with hsm but that is not the kind of movie that little darlings is). And even though its set around 1980, it still has this modern feel, its not so overwhelmingly 70s or 80s, expect for Angel and her mom's hair nd maybe a couple outfits. Plus, all the performances by each of the characters is phenomenal; where are they gonna find actresses to give performances even close to what the original cast members gave?? And if a remake comes out, most people that have never even heard of little darlings will think this is some original movie and never get to see the true orignal, or not care to see the original. Theyll really be missing out.
Kay, end of my rant.
PimpSmackersGOM is right - it was a "fake movie" to hide what JJ Abrams was really filming, much the same way George Lucas used the title "Blue Harvest" to hide the fact that he was shooting part of "Return Of The Jedi" in the desert in the American Southwest. "Little Darlings" was Abrams' "decoy title" to conceal the screen tests he was conducting to look for kids in the same age range as "LD" for his SF movie, "Super 8."
shareI guess it never happened
shareThis is the epitome of a movie you only have to see once. The only reason anyone would want to remake it is because it has parts for a large group of teens.
shareThank heavens. What a lousy premise. Besides, teen camp films are passé.
shareWhy would Hollywood ever make a thoughtful movie like this today?
