I wish they'd do a remake of the entire internet.

I tried to watch the remake and it didn't make any sense to me. I had a few beers in me too so that may not have helped but I watched the original the other day (few beers) and I enjoyed it more than the other. Especially seeing Bruce Davidson so young like he was in Willard. I wish Willard the original would get put on DVD!

There was a remake back in the early 2000s. Don't rent or buy it. It sucked the big w@@nie. The storyline had some major alterations not in line with the book. As I seem to remember, the big revision was that there was some kind of plague that targeted only Caucasian people. Who thought of that braindead idea? Must have been some white-people hater.
Stick with the original 1979 movie. It's dated, low-budget, and low-tech, but it's great.
I saw the remake a few years ago and was really disappointed. The original was much better. I heard that Ursula Le Guin was involved with the original film but was not consulted or involved in any way with the remake.
shareI heard the same thing and never bothered to see the new one. The 1980 PBS version was great. I only wish they could afford the rights to the beatles song.

The original is an effing masterpiece of made for tv cinema. Bruce Davison is fantastic and the direction of the whole thing was flawless, given the special fx they had to work with. I'm starting a petition on facebook to remake the film. If anyone is interested hit me up. If someone with taste and style doesn't want to remake the thing, I'll do it myself, with the respect and beauty that the novel deserves.
