There's something missing...

...something besides the Beatles' 'With A Little Help From My Friends.'

On the DVD version, about midway through the film, when George meets Haber in the Dallas City Council Lobby - oops, I mean the Haber Institute for Oneirology , they have a confrontation, and Haber walks up and knocks George out through VC induction. George sprawls on the floor.

The DVD now segues immediately to Haber's lab, but what used to be there was a three second, more distant view of Haber standing over George, alone in that immense space. I think that on its original run, PBS used to break there, in order to solicit for contributions. Perhaps the original print had an artifact there, something like "The Lathe Of Heaven Will Return in a Moment," which they found easier to simply edit the shot out, rather than digitally erase the artifact.

Does anyone else remember?

I remember that as well!

A pity to take it out, as it adds a chilling touch to the scene.

I've often thought that if I had a time machine, I'd get some digital recording equipment and go back and acquire pristine copies of some of this stuff as it aired! Dumb use of a time machine, I know - but hey! My ambition.
