Better as 'Monster'.

Just watched the new DVD, uncut, and called "Monster", (humanoids from the deep). It runs a few minutes longer with more exposition, which helps tame down the rape scenes, although nothing is cut. Some moments also are altered, such as the opening titles. I think this version is much better, certainly more watchable, and the story is accented.

Just watched the re-released version last night. Was surprised to see the original title wasn't digitally inserted instead of "Monster", the most unimginative title ever. It's been a while since I saw the previously released American version and the one scene that stood out as new was the decapitation scene. The gore in this movie was pretty graphic for the era and well done too. Loved the original release, and still love it now. Loads of gore, T & A, and a decent storyline to boot. Morrow made an excellent villain back in those days whether in this, the Twilight Zone Movie, or even Bad News Bears. I'd forgottten how creepy the music was and how much it contributed to the mood of the film.

"The piranhas..."
"What about the goddamn piranhas?"
"They're eating the guests, sir."

There isn't anything really different. They added a scene of a man being decapitated, that's it. Oh and the title was changed to MONSTER. I prefer the original title.

Anyway it looks great on Blu-Ray and the deleted scenes are pretty good.

The opening credits seem to be a little longer, with alternate shots. Some other scenes also seem extended, or altered. Personally, despite the fact that "Monster" isn't the most imaginative title, I like this version a lot better all the same.
