i had no idea it was going to be ridiculously violent and awesome. the effects are superb and the pacing during the second half of the film is fantastic. im suprised it doesnt have a more signgicant cult status.

What ticked me off a bit was the crawlingly slow first half. There's just too much focus on unnecessary characters and irrelevant, non-humanoids-related conflicts. All that stuff between the native american guy and the dude with the moustache didn't interest me at all, because the characters and their issues were so godawfully bland and only detracted from the real show. It just felt like a whole lot of filler. I do agree that the second half (especially the showdown and the final scene) is pretty awesome and memorable. The campy monster attacks and those great costumes and practical effects really are a lot of fun, but it's never quite enough to make it a good movie, in my opinion.
shareYou're kidding right? The fact that so much attention is payed to a B movie from 1980 on this board should tip you off that it definitely has a large cult following. I know many horror fans who love this movie. I will bet you copies fly off the shelves when the reissue comes out on 8/3/10.

If it wasn't for the cool FX work, nubile girlies with their breasts out and the blood & gore, this flick would be pretty boring.But as it is, it moves swiftly along and, imo, it's *beep* great! I got the new DVD and love it!
