A scene I can't help but dig . . .

. . . is where the Humanoids are attacking people on the carousel near the end and you see the clever Humanoid riding a carousel horse while chasing down his unlucky prey. Fun stuff.

I watched a double-bill last night of HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP and PIRANHA.

USELESS TRIVIA: Did anyone reading this know that "HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP" was released under the simple title "MONSTER" in England? I've got a WARNER HOME VIDEO PAL tape from the UK and the movie is just called "Monster". 'Humanoids from the Deep' is a much catchier title in my humble opinion. I wonder why the film's title was changed in the UK . . . ?

Hmm.

So where did you see this double bill, or did you just screen them at your place?
That is a decent pairing, but I can't help adding that perhaps "Humanoids" and "Slithis" (or "Spawn of the Slithis") might have been a better pairing?! ;)

Piranha & Piranha II: The Spawning, perhaps? Or Piranha & Barracuda? I love the OLD SCHOOL FILMS so much better than modern ones, what more can I say?!

Or perhaps, 'Humanoids from the Deep' & 'The Beast Within' as possible feature pairing, for girl-raped-by-monster similarities? lol

Dear 'I Madman': Greetings. I usually watch 'THE BEAST WITHIN' by itself.

Les Baxter outdid himself with the music for 'BEAST WITHIN', I might add.

>>> I watched "HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP" and "PIRANHA" because they're both scary but have a sense of humor. Maybe I should watch "THE HOWLING" as a triple-feature with those two . . .

I've never wanted to watch PIRANHA 2: THE SPAWNING and I ~once~ attempted to watch 'SLITHIS'/'SPAWN OF THE SLITHIS' and Lord was it *Bad* with a capital "B".

If you can get through 'SLITHIS' you're a braver soul than I.

Here is a movie I absolutely hate and, if given the chance, would gleefully destroy the negative: FEAR NO EVIL (1981).

It would be difficult for me to think of another movie I despise more than this . . .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVILSPEAK I like. :) I've seen it at least 75 times. I used to keep track!

I read a review of EVILSPEAK once where the reviewer said it was like "CARRIE with pigs". I agree. Except EVILSPEAK is much more fun; the ending of 'CARRIE' was mucked up by the slow motion when she wastes the prom. I guarantee if 'EVILSPEAK' had a slo-mo ending I would never have watched it more than twice.

FEAR NO EVIL bites the Big One

EVILSPEAK is groovy and you can dig the killer boars feasting on the cadets at the end. Fun. :)

Well, I saw Slithis when I was a kid, so that is probably why I was able to get through it! When I finally found it on VHS, I had to have it, for the memories. Still a pretty bad movie, but not a bad team up with Humanoids or Beast Within or....Prophecy (1979)!

I'd love to find Evilspeak, I'll have to see if I can find that online!

Dear 'I Madman': EVILSPEAK isn't rare these days so it shouldn't be hard to find. It was released on DVD by Anchor Bay several years ago with all the gore that had been cut out back in 1981 due to the MPAA.

The old CBS/Fox Video (which I bought *New* at least 14 years ago) is the gore-trimmed theatrical version.

>>> There is yet a 3rd version of the movie out there with extra footage that defines the plot a little more clearly +PLUS+ still has all the gore.

Happy hunting. -CG

best scene for me was the ventriloquist scene in the beach tent.

No, it isn't riding a carousel horse, wishful thinking for some humor on your part.

Watch again and look closer, it's standing on the rotating platform, holding onto one of the upright bars. In fact it's near one of the benches one sits in and nowhere near a riding horse.

Also, logically there would be no way to attack someone from the saddle of a carousel horse unless they CAME UP TO YOU TO BE ATTACKED. Plus, in the real world, it would be a total pain in the ass to lift someone in a slimy humanoids suit up onto a carousel horse,.

Nope. Funny idea though.

Factory DVD now, which is great.I love Evilspeak too, I usually watch it doubled up with Superstition (1982).You can't beat old school splatter flicks.
