Doug McClure, B movie legend, or barrel scraping hack????
shareB Movie Legend!
And a pox on your house sir for even suggesting otherwise!!!
;-)
B movie legend. Big time!
"Dig through the ditches and burn through the witches."
B Movie Legend all the way baby!
He was the Bruce Campbell of his day, God rest his rubber-suited monster bashing soul.
I don't know if you can think of any greater humiliation than to be stuffed in your own arse.
No, Bruce Campbell has a sense of humor. Troy, errr, Doug McClure is more like a second-rate John Agar.
share One of my barometers of bad movies back in the late 70's was: if Doug McClure is in it, it's bad.
"Don't look back - something might be gaining on you." --- Satchel Paige
Yeah, kind of like late night cable now. If it has Casper Van Dien or Mario Van Peebles in it...............you'd be better off watching an infomercial.
shareyeah - but Doug McClure films are entertaining in their rubber man in a suit naivete!
Warlords of Atlantis, At the Earth's Core, Land/People that time forgot - they are like a genre of movies unto themselves!
B movie legend!
plus, his daughter is 100% USDA Grade A Prime, and a fixture on Skinemax!!!

Casper and Mario should start buying up all the rights to old Doug McClure movies and start "re-imagining" them!
Exactly. Doug was a b movie pretty boy who always wanted to be a leading man. Bruce is a very handsome, witty powerhouse of a leading man constrained to mainly b movies because audiences like their a movie leads to be stupid.
share"First time I ever thought I'd be disappointed in seeing a fish!"
Yeah, sorry. That's pretty-much barrel-scrape. From 'way down on the bottom. Too bad, as he's obviously no more stupid than most actors, but the right roles at the right time just didn't happen. Then again, Vic Morrow didn't go as far as he "should" have, either. That's Hollywood.
What I had in mind was boxing the compass.share
Doug McClure, B movie legend, or barrel scraping hack????
BOTH.
I wonder what he thought of the Simpsons trading on his "good" B-movie star persona?
Supposedly he found the Troy McClure character funny.
I think some of his movies are decent--At the Earth's Core, etc.
Humanoids I would not count among them.
I dont think Bruce Campbell is in the same camp. McClure played it serious for the most part while Campbell is usually doing deliberate comedy. Campbell is kind of like a combination of Jim Carrey and John Saxon.
