Just watched Final Cut and I don't understand the UA movie executives???
Seems to me like they are to blame for a large chunk of this films problems. None of them had the balls to tell Cimino to quit wasting time and money. If they had, things wouldn't have gotten so bad and out of hand.
When one of them finally manned up and told Cimino to quit or else, Cimino stopped his antics and got down to business. All of his fanciful whims stopped and he no longer wasted 3 hours gazing at the sky for the perfect cloud. By then it was too late though.
I feel like a large part of Ciminos antics were done purposely to test people and to assert that he had all the power. He seemed like a narcissist who had a huge ego and his arrogance drove him to get into battles with other powerful people because he wanted control and wanted everyone to know he was in charge.
If only one of the exes had actually done their job and reigned him in all the disaster could have been avoided. The man that was fired from UA deserved it!
The weird woman who was in the locked room with bars over the window with Cimino seemed like a Yes Man to him which is probably why he kept her around. She seemed in love with him still in the documentary and they probably screwed around with each other during filming of Heavens Gate.
What a disaster that ended up ruining so many people :/
