3 women with strange facial structure

Adrienne Barbeau, Janet Leigh and Jamie Lee Curtis all have unusual/strange bone structure in their faces. A similar structure. Janet Leigh and Jamie Lee of course, being mother and daugther, we know why.

But seeing all three women, all good looking, with this kind of strange facial structure as the three main women in this film is kind of an anomaly. Maybe John Carpenter had some kind of fetish or something?

Fetish? I don't know about that, but I stood in a long line to see Adrienne Barbeau like a dork when she was promoting the film at Jordan Marsh Dept store in downtown Boston. She had to sign a lot of autographs and be quick about it. Her features are not strange, but typically Armenian.

I also stood in a long line to meet Adrienne at a horror film convention in Chicago. The featured highlight of that weekend was a screening of The Fog. I did not and do not consider myself a "dork" for standing in line. She was a sweet, warm and personable lady who took extra time chatting with many of her fans, particularly my best friend who has been a huge fan of her since the 70s and was so eager/nervous when he met her that she ended their 3 minute chat by giving him a big hug. It was not some phony act just for the money, like you are always claiming. Sometimes people ARE who they actually appear to be. You are the ONLY person, repeat the ONLY ONE, who has not stated how sweet and real and appreciative Adrienne is. It can't always be the other person, you know.

The fact that you resented yourself for standing in line to meet her was probably very apparent. She probably got a negative vibe from you, since you are, in fact, such an extremely negative individual. It was you, not her.

Glad I could help.

She arguably was the best character in the film. John Carpenter, her husband at the time, really brought out a great performance in her.

Agreed 👍

It's one of the all time great scary movie performances. I'm surprised it doesn't get talked about more. She's stuck in that lighthouse the whole time, yet is the heart of the movie.

reply

Yes, it's surprising when you think about it how little interaction she actually has with the rest of the featured cast. Great film. My favourite Carpenter of all and easily one of my favourite top 10 horrors ever.

You have good taste. A lot of film fans don't appreciate how good The Fog is, especially Carpenter fans and even Carpenter himself (although his opinion has changed on it from time to time), but it's a masterpiece of the genre. The atmosphere, the music, and the acting performances - all perfect. The ghost story that opens the film just sets everything rolling. It just gets better with time and it's Carpenter's best film by miles.
