Release date may be for VHS - but the film is older

I saw this film (a 16mm print, I believe) when I was a sophomore in college in early 1975. I don't think my class was the first to see it. So the film must have been completed as a documentary at the latest in the summer of 1974 (it was planned for the course syllabus months in advance).

I'm thinking 1979 or 1981 are the release dates for a VHS version.

A very powerful film. More powerful for expressing such highly significant events and issues in quiet ways. It made a profound impression on me. so much so that I have gone looking for it so I can show it to my students now, 35 years later.
