Japanese Blu Ray ... Don't bother
This is absolutely the worse commercially sold Blu Ray I've ever seen. The disc opens with a nicely produced menue showing the house and estate. The film starts with an extremely beautiful TCE logo than a some what softer but vibrant Studio Canal logo, than on to the film. Seems like we are in for a nice presentation. Not to be. It's like you are watching through a dirty window. Specks and strange transparent distortions over the entire image. Though the distortions clear up as the movie progresses, smears and bleeding follow after anything that moves across the screen, which looks like the picture has been hit with sharpening filters with white halos that surround everything. Picture seems brighter with improved contrast and little more detail, but constant grain above and beyond what you will find on the DVD. It almost appears like a film grain filter has been applied, to excess.
We'll just have to keep waiting for an American release. Huge disappointment. Huge waste of money.
