This is a sweet little movie that is incredibly underrated. There is an underlining message to the film and if I have to spell it out for you, well, then you'd probably be the type to not appreciate that message anyway.
Lots of people seem to think this is a failed screwball comedy, when it is actually a very good, very entertaining and quite moving film about a man just trying to do his best at what he's always wanted to.
I've always thought that the slimy lawyer and cunt stepmother subplot was well-done, well-acted and kinda dark. They tricked Geoffrey Lewis into going to the puzzle factory for life. Fuck that noise!
there is a lot of this movie i don't follow, it's like a two hour circus show, so if you don't wanna sit on a hard bench in a tent rent this instead, and much of it seem to go on repeat, both the bar scene and the crowd waiting for the show really reminded of "the blues brothers" (1980), i would have liked to see what happened between bronco billy and the sheriff, geoffrey lewis had the funniest parts of the movie, notice the fly on the pillow, it didn't get a credit, did it.

cruising on your curves,
rattling my nerves,
without gps,
led by your natural ways instead,
you point on the map,
as at you i crash.
True, you've to have a little love for circus to like this movie.
Funny and a bit melancholic.
The atmosphere reminded me of The Electric Horseman (1979). ๐กโ๐โ
