Animal House is probably my favorite comedy ever. But Blues Brothers is a proper classic film with far more craftsmanship. It's the better movie by far.

Animal house had Mary Louise Weller so it wins by default.
But the Blues Brothers is very good also.

Animal House. As said elsewhere here John Belushi is good in small doses but his humor cannot carry a movie with everyone else a minor player such as it was in The Blues Brothers. Thankfully, the practice of giving a SNL performer their own movie seriously waned several years afterward.
