Does he survive? You see him spear some guys in the land battle and later you see Caymen's ship blown to smithereens. Is the tattooed fella presumably aboard? And talking of plot-holes, doesnt Richard Thomas wonder where his sister has gone (she is beamed aboard by the two uglies and destroyed when Robert Vaughn lets them have it)? If so he doesnt seem upset at all.
He did survive. When Kayman went to attack Sador, he left his crew on the planet's surface. The two Kelvin also survived after they were rushed to the protein tanks.
Not only that the only surviving spacecraft is Nanelia's ship, (apart from the back end of Space Cowboy's craft), so the only way anyone can leave the planet is in a tiny ship with room for just one.
I wonder what became of Gelt's loot? I doubt he would have left it on Nascostos, was it destroyed with his ship, or did he leave it on the surface before the battle? If it is intact, it would make the Akira extremely rich, but I imagine they would have buried it with Gelt.
i dunno, thats a big old ship Caymen has to operate compared to some of the others - even if he can operate it with a twist of a steering wheel. I always imagined the tattooed guy would be on board somewhere. Also i imagine the two Kelvin did did but their deaths were just never mentioned - either they never had the budget to show it or it was just forgotten. I always wondered if after the land battle whether the invaders pulled out and returned to the Hammerhead ship or whether they just pulled back to set up camp outside of the city. Just think, if Sador had survived and returned with more ships we could have had a sequel. It would be like "Return of the mercenaries" or something. Still the biggest mystery - why did no one mention to Shad his sister was beamed away by the mutants. And wouldnt it have been interesting if Gelt had survived and Shad had found out it was him that had blown her to pieces when he chased the fighter away from Akir. Bit of character interaction there i think.
