I believe it was Light My Fire by The Doors.
shareactually it wasnt the doors. it was iron butterfly. not 100% sure on the song but 100% sure its them. ever seen the horror/suspense movie manhunter? awesome part at the end of the movie using the song "inna-gadda-da-vidda" by iron butterfly to create a music video type scene.

shareIt sounds like real Indian sitar music, and although I don't know what the specific piece is, I'll bet it's by Ravi Shankar.
I think this because: A) back when the movie was made, Shankar was the only Indian musician most Westerners knew anything about; and B) during the time period the movie is portraying (1967-68) Shankar was hot among American hipster intellectuals, so it would make sense that his music would be played at a party like that.
It is annoying that back in 1980, Warners didn't feel the need to name the songs in the credits.
