Storyline question

I am wracking my brain, feeble as it is, to remember a movie I once saw.
As I do not remember the details of this movie well, perhaps someone more familiar with the genre could help.

Is Altered States the movie where a scientist uses a virtual reality type device for a sexual encounter and then the device malfunctions and the characters find this man dead the next morning of "over stimulation" if you know what I mean...

If this is not that movie, does anyone know what movie I am thinking of?
Someone help as, believe it or not, I am losing sleep over this.

I think you are talking about "Brainstorm" with Natalie Wood, Christopher Walken, and Louise Fletcher.

Yes, Brainstorm's an excellent film.
