Altered States DVD for '06?

Does anyone have any idea as to the possiblity of AS being re-released with a better quality DVD than the one that has already been put out. Something with the typical picture refurbishments and (fingers crossed) some extras. I think that a movie on this intellectual level should not be such a bare bones DVD, that , in my opinion, suffered greatly from the contraints of visual effects of its given time period. Despite my agreeing with those on this board that feel a remake would be a bad idea (and their concerns are valid) perhaps that would be a better way to go. If their are any rumors out their let me know. Thanks.

hmmmmm.... any chance this will be upgraded to the newer formats? ie.... blu-ray or hd-dvd? not that it will make much difference... just asking!

reply

I doubt they'll upgrade it as few people care about the film besides us.

Films much more obscure then this one have gotten upgrades. While I would love extras, what I really want is a new transfer allowed to stretch out bit wise on a dual layer DVD. I could see compression artifacts all over the place on the old DVD.

Yeah its a shame but its not a really popular film. It would be nice to have a Ken Russell commentary.
There was a fantastic in depth making of in Cinefantastique magazine when it came out, which i'm lucky enough to have a copy of.

Damn, I just bought a copy of this second hand and now I read that the DVD itself is of poor quality. Well, doesn't really matter cuz I just know I'm gonna like this movie. :-)
But I can't stand that some of my favorite movies are still only released in those 1998 cardboard-packaged vanilla releases. Is Interview With A Vampire by any chance also a Warner Brothers release?
