Um, wow, didn't understand this movie at ALL.

Maybe I'm just an idiot, or maybe I'm just too drug-free, but I didn't "get" this film. Why is this supposed to be so great? It was so incredibly cheesy and pointless. Granted, that's my opinion, and if anyone can explain what the hell that movie was about, please enlighten me.

Thanks a bunch.

You're an idiot because you are drug free.

Bravo. That's a great job of explaining the movie to her.

What makes you think I was trying to explain it to her?

The film was about man in search of truth, the core absolute truth at the center of all things, the only true constant. He pursued this quest at the cost of his family and friends and relationships. He saw the everyday experience as meaningless compared to the importance of his search. When he finally achieved his end, when he finally saw into the absolute truth and experienced the sensation of transcendence, he saw there was nothing there. He stared into the void which is the only real constant and he experience the absolute terror of it. This caused the realization that real truth is found in living life, in experiencing the world around us, in sharing love with other people.

hys·ter·i·cal (h-str-kl)
adj.
1. Of, characterized by, or arising from hysteria.
2. Having or prone to having hysterics.
3. Informal- Extremely funny: told a hysterical story.

This seems to be an informal discussion, so lets go with the informal definition.

Aside from that, it was obvious you used "hysterical" in the context of it being funny.

Here are your words pliegeoi,

"First-off, the movie is supposed to be hysterical. If you couldn't tell it was intentional I suppose you have some severe comprehension problems. LAUGHING at this film is not exactly a fault in the film."

Its tough to use a sentence like that and argue otherwise....nice try though

Ah, our education system at work

Whats hopeless is stuck up snobs, like yourself, who will find anything to say,"well you obviously dont understand...." in attempts to look more intellegent.

you wrote,
"EDIT: By the way, you sound like you need some help with your English. I said the movie was hysterical, which you took to mean you should LAUGH at it... Ah, our education system at work..."

before that you also wrote,
"First-off, the movie is supposed to be hysterical. If you couldn't tell it was intentional I suppose you have some severe comprehension problems. LAUGHING at this film is not exactly a fault in the film"

He took it as if he should laugh at it...yes and so did you, you said it yourself

ploegeoi, get a life.

I got the movie and enjoyed it, but some people didn't. Just because I got the movie doesn't mean I'm better than them. They probablly get things that I don't, that doesn't make them better than me either. We're all equal.

Both sides need to stop this. One side insulting the other for liking the movie, and one side insulting the other for not liking the movie.

But, all together, I think you, ploegeoi, are the *beep* in this entire conversation. Grow up.

"No, don't worry. You didn't understand it because it made no @#$ing sense. Its that simple."

If you strip it away the story is very simple. In a different way Tigger the Movie has a similar theme (frantically looking for something when the answer is right in front of you) maybe this would be better for you.

exactly, the root meaning of the movie (man searching for the meaning of life, only to find that living that life is the true meaning) is simple to understand, but that is just plain lame and boring by itself. So mix in drugs, crazy philisophical techno babble, insane trip sequences, frighting soundtrack )(i bought it on vinyl haha)etc. and you've got yourself a pretty damn interesting movie, maybe not the best (the ending pisses me off kinda anti-climatic if you ask me). It all comes down to different strokes for different folks people! Not everyone digs these kinds of movies, but I sure as hell do!
