Was really into this, until...

...until the part with the Geico caveman.
They couldn't have had more makeup on him?
I thought his body/bone structure was regressing, yet all he looked like was a harry naked guy.
It was laughable and hard to take seriously, again, after that one.

Yeah, the entire caveman sequence was just ridiculous; however, it was entertaining to see the caveman smack that goat stupid with a rock, and then eat it alive! Ha... but that aside, seriously - this movie just falls on its face after a certain point. So the 'ultimate truth' is just a savage, half-primate state? Altered States itself is filled with half-developed ideas that don't seem to lead anywhere; it seems that its creators know a little bit about each concept the movie deals with, but not enough to even *BEGIN* placing them side by side. Religion? Evolution? The supernatural? All rolled up into one into a psychedelic caveman adventure?

The Holy Mountain this is not. What a silly, confused movie Altered States is.

I agree. I was disappointed to see where the story was going. I second your critique of the caveman look. Yes, Geico. Totally.

Just watch him like 8 minutes into that clip...whoever they got to play the caveman seemed to be a theater major who was just way to expressive with his body...I find it completely hilarious...and I think it makes (not breaks) the movie.

Even the most primitive society has an innate respect for the insane.
