...with the hallucination scene where the lizard turns into a girl, and the girl and the guy both turn into sand and get blown away in the desert?

If it is, this is a film I saw years ago and really want to see again - that scene really stuck with me, it blew my mind!

Not sure about the lizard turning into a girl, but it is the movie where they get turned into sand and blown away.

I think a girl turns into a lizard type creature in HIGHWAY TO HELL, a rather underrated early 90's horror flick. But you are indeed most likely thinking of ALTERED STATES.

it is what you are thinking of. i just watched it today for the 4th time this week today. he is seeing a lizard and it keeps switching back from the lizard to a girl, then the sand from the desert blows them away
