looks amazing, by far the best version of the film EVER! sadly no bonus features other than the trailer. the picture is a lot darker than we are used to the film being, but from what ive heard, thats what it is supposed look like. im sure russell and cronenweth would approve. the detail is def all there and i would def rec an upgrade to any serious fan of the film.
shareJust got it from Amazon yesterday...watched it last night. Truly epic transfer compared to my DVD copy I've had for years. You're right about some of the scenes being darker in this version, but as you stated that was the way it was actually shot and I found that it lends greater detail to the elements that we're focused on within those scenes. Great review of it on Blu-ray.com if you're interested. I must say the sequence when Dr. Jessup truly regresses and runs amok through the city streets looks awesome. Details I've never even noticed before make it so much more interesting and a lot less campy. Glad someone else out there appreciates this movie enough to invest in the new Blu-ray version.
shareoh well trust me ive been counting down the days until it was released since i first heard they were finally putting it out on bluray. this and bullhead are my favorite blurays of the summer so far. tho altered states is prob my fav sci/fi film of all time next to blade runner, brazil and videodrome. but i think i like altered states better than all three. from best to worst i would probably list

all are out on bluray but im really hoping for criterion to put out a version of brazil.
Just received mine and am very pleased. While it's a bit soft and parts look like they have too much DNR, it's miles beyond that ancient DVD transfer. It actually looks better than I expected.
