Blair Brown and Julianne Moore (same DNA)

Saw this film for the first time last night and enjoyed it, very interesting.

I had never seen or heard of Blair Brown before and i thought she was great in it and a really wonderful actor. She reminded me alot of Julianne Moore (another great actor) - they look very similar.

Brown and Moore would have been very believable as sisters on-screen had they been from the same era. Then again, i'm sure it would work today.

I had the exact same thought while I was watching this movie!

Blair Brown looked absolutely gorgeous in this film.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

Could'nt agree w/ you less...

Dead ringer for Moore, and equally hot.

Yes, quite hot.

Been a while, wedd. Greetings. Wish this board were more active -- it feels like an isolation tank.

Hello again. What do you make of this movie? For all its faults, I think its highly enjoyable.

reply

I think it's an underground classic (no pun intended); better than most of Russell's films, which I normally don't care for. Maybe it just appeals to my mystical side; I often feel most people these days have theirs switched off.

I also think it makes a good companion piece to Network, which illustrated many of the same Chayefskian themes, only with more pessimism than you see here.

Chayefsky disowned his involvement in this, didn't he?

Chayefsky was notoriously finicky and temperamental and kind of a snob. Ken Russell is notoriously sloppy and flakey and kind of a hipster. So it wasn't a match made in heaven. But if I were Chayefsky I'd probably have been sore as hell too if my production had gotten passed through the hands of four different directors.

reply

Twenty seven different directors, according to Mr. Russell- but then he is known for hyperbole.

" The reason such an attractive script was turned down with such frequency? The abominable reputation of the movie's screenwriter, Paddy Chayfesky. Chayfesky, responsible for penning such classics as "Network" and "Marty" was a ruthless dictator on the sets of his films. The clash between Chayfesky and Russell is nearly as legendary as this movie's special effects. However, Chayfesky did allow Russell one bit of creative freedom--to revise the hallucination sequences."

If you like Paddy Chayefsky, also check out The Hospital with George C Scott and Diana Rigg. Similar themes, great story.

If you do not think that Julianne Moore would show that much skin, I would recommend renting Short Cuts.

reply

I guess you've never seen The End of the Affair or Boogie Nights.

Bcurran, not only does Julianne Moore have no problem appearing nude on screen, she had no problem showing everyone she is a natural redhead!

As for resemblances, I can see Blair Brown as a synthesis of Julianne Moore and Madeline Stowe (a third actress with a fine stable of nude scenes ot her credit).

And having seen all three in the buff, Mis Blair has by far the finest posterior.

Blair Brown has a succulent pair of tits and a nice round ass the way I like 'em. You get a nice shot of her cute ass right after William Hurt saves her from staying forever as some lava chic or something.

reply

I'm not going into a debate if hot or not but yes, they look both very similar!
