xylophone music

the xylophone is definitely the official music of insanity, hallucinatory experiences, and monkeys.

I actually liked Corigliano's score for AS, even if it is derivative of Stravinsky in places.

There, daddy, do I get a gold star?

reply

Yes. Corigliano actually had the musicians play a lot of their instruments in unusual or unnatural ways. Drums were scratched instead of struck, violins were played with their bows upside down, flutists hummed through their insrument instead of just blowing, etc. All to create an unusual atmosphere.

They also use Pierre Henry's "La Voile D'orphee," which is awesome!
