Vietnam will be replaced with Afghanistan as the characters military history and despite rumors of a female Magnum according to the story it will center on Thomas Magnum.Hopefully they get it right.CBS has a terrible track record for reboots.the Odd couple isn't very funny and Macgyver is way too generic and just doesn't have the spirit of the original.
sharethe problem with rebooting with such legendary tv shows is that for the most part the producers think, that it is the basic concept that made the show succesful, while it is actually the opposite. if you look at all the classics like ateam, mcgyver, magnum, charlies angels ...etc, they were succesful DESPITE their basic concept. if you would explain any of those shows to someone that has never seen them, that person would consider them cheesy as hell. it was the mixture of a great cast, the chemistry between the cast and exactly the kind of writing that the show needed. i used to be against remakes, but i have been proven wrong by those rare occasions where people actually made the effort to understand what the original great or found a way to turn the cheesy basic concept into something different but exciting.

shareI guess we'll just have to see what it has to offer, but usually reboots are not very successful which is why I'm very skeptical of this. To me, Tom Selleck will always be Magnum P.I. and that's coming from a twenty- something year old. I just wish they would use all their energy to make a new show, not a reboot of some sort. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I just hope they don't do the cliched over used will they/won't they schtick.Making Higgins a love interest would kill the whole dynamic between the two characters.
