Different theme music in season 1

I was surprised when i started watching the DVDs yesterday and didn't here the iconic Magnum opening theme.I only ever saw this in syndication so i had no idea there was different theme music in season 1.Weird seeing the credits with different music.

Yeah I had a similar experience watching it a few years ago. That 70s style theme music is pretty jarring. I read someone else talking about it a while ago, and he was asking why they changed the music for the dvds lol
