i bought the dvd set yesterday and while i'm glad to finally have this series on dvd i was immedietly not impressed with the video picture quality of the discs, mabye i'm just nit-picking here but it seems to me that the versions aired on the scifi channel had far less grain in the picture anyone else notice that?
mabye i'm just spoiled by the orginal BG series since that got the star treatment and i realize that this show coming out on dvd was more of an afterthought but i still wish they would have done something more then a bare bones dvd release or atleast used better source film for the episodes
Yeah, there really should have been a commentary (something along the lines of Larson going, "dear god, I'm soooooo sorry") or some kind of post-mortem. The unused footage from the unfinished eleventh episode "The Day They Kidnapped Cleopatra" would have made a nice bonus too.

^That!
I always wondered where the hell was that footage and why wasn't it included for the G80 DVD set.
When they found tons of Battlestar Galactica unused footage it was put into the DVD sets back in 2003. You can't be telling me they found G80 unused footage as well and figured; "nah we'll leave it out". Bad as Galacitca 1980 was it would've been a curiousity purchase with many more people if the DVD's had more extras like TV spots and commericals, some blooper reels and unused material like the unfinished eleventh episode; 'The Day They Kidnapped Cleopatra' itself.
As i've always wondered who would've played Xaviar in that episode. Richard Lynch again (As he played him in "Galactica Discovers Earth" 3 parter) or actor Jeremy Brett (who played him in the episode; Spaceball).
