How old were the Warriors?

They were teenagers.

In the book they were all teenagers and all black. The actors ranged from 20-29 years old.

They mentioned having caseworkers so I figured they were teens.

The characters are in their late teens, early twenties. The actors are in their late 20s, early 30's. Micheal Beck who plays swan was 30 years old when he made this film.

I wondered the same thing.

I think law enforcement exaggerates the significance of gangs to justify their budgets. I remember a local murder that was labeled as gang related. When it was revealed the alleged shooter was in his late teens, lived with his parents and worked at a fast food restaurant he seemed less threatening. Local law enforcement once raved about arresting a drug "kingpin". When it was revealed he resided in a rooming house he seemed much less important.
