Overrated Cult Movie
This movie definitely dd not hold up. A 7.7 on here is very ludacris!

I can get why you might say that, however though I do not like to presume someone's age, I will take a guess and say you did not live in the 70s and 80s or where too young to remember what it was like.
Back then, gangs did not use guns unless they were homemade crap guns that did not do much damage. The fact that the Rouges shot Cyrus was a big deal. At the time it was a very good movie and still is to those of us who remember in the in which it was representing. If you don't like it, then you don't like it and nothing I or anyone can say will change your mind. If you see the director's version, it references Spartans who were lost in Persia and how they had to fight or negotiate their way back to their ship. This is a modern day, well when it was modern, version of that story.
yeah I knew about the dark TV promo in 1979 when I was 10. It took me till 2016 to watch it. And point being Many film like this 1978 to 1981 just weren't good. The DVD looks great but that's about it... Michael Beck acted the same way as Xanadu... What saved that film was Olivia and Gene Kelly nothing else. They made that a excellent cult classic along with Grease. But this was just schmaltz.
