A few thoughts...

This movie was awesome. I saw it after it was released, on cable TV, back in '79 or '80. Anyway, it definitely had a disturbing, atmospheric horror movie vibe. The Baseball Furies were one creepy gang! So was the gang on roller skates. All of the gangs were creepy. I heard there was going to be a remake of the movie. I hope not! The original was bad-ass! There isn't anything any director out there could do to top it! Some websites show movies in their entirety. I am wondering if any show The Warriors. It's better than the B-Ball team from Oakland, California!

I agree that the movie was awesome in its own right. But I would actually love a remake. If the right director is chosen and they play their cards right, it could be better in its own way. I watched this movie after hearing about the possibilities of a remake. I was expecting a lot and while I was blown away by quite a few parts, I feel like the movie had some missed opportunities. I still thought it was great but I also think that a Warriors movie in the near future that takes place modern day (like a new version, same story deal) would be something I'd look forward to. Especially if they add a little more plot, action, character development, and stronger focus on antagonist

In the early 2000s there was actually a page on imdb for the remake. It got shelved and never resurfaced.

A remake would not work today, there was a real gang problem in NYC in the 70s. Now pretty much every neighborhood in NYC is desirable. I do not think having gangs fight in the Meat Packing district while people dine at upscale trendy restaurants would work. Also, gangs in the 70s did most of the fighting with their fists, today it is all with guns.
