shareI liked the ending but it seemed to reflect how I felt about the entire movie.Imo the novie did seem to be lacking a bit and had a couple missed oppurtunities... but it was still fantastic. I just kinda wish there was a bigger confrontation with Luther and the end seemed a little unsettling to me after Swan talked about his territory being smaller than he remembered (leaving potential for a good character arc about him wanting to see the bigger world). But I still loved the movie. Absolutely fantastic
shareIt wasn't that their territory was so small but rather how much of a dump it was. That is what Swann was getting at. They fought so hard all night losing fellow brothers including their leader and for what? To come back home to a absolute sh!thole!?!??! That was Swann IMHO was truly get it. I also think he hinted he wanted out. I know in the sequel comics that came out recently he didn't but I always thought him and Marcy not long after they came home did what he said. They split. Swann IMHO would stayed around long enough to rebuild the chain of command and then took off with Marcy.
shareInteresting thought on it. I like that
shareThe ending was epic! Amazing when the leader of the Riffs says "You Warriors are good, real good!" and Swan responds "The best!"
shareThis movie is loosely modeled upon Xenophon's "Anabasis", about a group of Greek warriors trapped behind enemy lines. They had to march & fight 1,500 miles to reach the Black Sea city of Trabzon. When they saw the city on the coast, they let out the famous cry of triumph, "The sea! The sea!" because they knew they were back "home" amongst Greek cities. This is why Swan says "When we see the ocean, we know we're home."
