I loved everything about this movie. The characters, the poems, the cinematography, the environment, the atmosphere, the philosophical dialogue... But the ending is kind "eh" to me. Considering what this movie built it, I thought it was a bit of a disappointment. But maybe that's just me.

The only color scenes are when they are in The Zone... AND... when focusing on the daughter. I pretty much took this as showing that the daughter herself is 'of The Zone'... a part of it removed. Her demonstration, to herself, of 'psychic powers' is just a reveal of her secret... that while Artist and Professor had no faith/hope the daughter was a living embodiment of it... and part of why the mother had 'no regret'.

remember when stalker talks about belief he says that those two men didn't believe in that room and nobody believes in it so their try tom make wishes are vain. than that girl appears who proves that of you believe in something fully you will make it happen. she believed that she could move glasses without doubt so she made it . if i have belief that i could move mountain i will make it through undoubtly.

By "ending" you mean the last scene of the daughter moving the glass with her mind? I think this scene is supposed to show that The Zone really did possess miraculous qualities. During the whole film, we see the men wandering around in The Zone with nothing really strange happening. So we start to doubt if there really is anything special about this places. And so did the men have doubts. Even the stalker himself seemed to be losing his faith in The Zone. But in the end we, the viewers, witness a real miracle. A proof that The Zone was indeed of divine origin.
