Just Realized A Possible Flaw (SPOILERS)

I love this movie and have seen it many times. After viewing it again last night, I realized something that I never thought of before.

When Susan and the others were in the Marsten house, it is daylight, and they are only in the house for a few hours that one day. Straker tells Mark that he took Susan to meet the the master and she isn't seen again until the end of the film and she's a vampire and Ben kills her.

The master was sleeping in his coffin that whole time they were in the house and didn't wake up until Ben was putting the wooden stake through his heart.

My question is: when did Susan become a vampire?? She did not ever meet the master as he was sleeping that whole time. Then the house was set on fire. If she was a mortal when that happened, she would have perished in the fire. When did she get bit and by who??

If anyone has any thoughts on this I would love to hear them. As it stands now, IMO it seems like one huge flaw.

Straker must have locked her up somewhere as he knew the Master was sleeping. Chances are she escaped the fire but then was attacked by another of the vampires.

I wish they would have shown a little more about what actually happened to her but your explanation makes sense. Thanks!!

Its just a plot hole

I just re-watched it, too! Ben warns Mark they probably didn’t get all the vampires with the fire and now the survivors will be after them. So Susan managed to survive the fire but then fell prey to a surviving vampire.

Yeah, apparently I missed that line 😳

I assumed Susan was somewhere tied up during the time Ben was killing Barlow and she was turned by some random vampire after Ben left the burning house. I always thought it was strange and cowardly Ben never bothered to look for her after killing Barlow and instead just torched the house.

Apparently, according to Reggie Nadler who played Barlow, they had filmed at least another hour or more of footage that never saw any cut of the film, so maybe it was in that footage.

reply

Yeah it seems I'm the only one who didn't get it 😳 You're right, though, it was a little cowardly of Ben not going to look for her but maybe, as you said, it was in that cut footage.

So Mark lured Susan into the house, then the lads set the place on fire and burn it to the ground. She finally escapes and finds them, only for Ben to drive a stake through her heart.

Nice going boys 👍🏻🤦‍♂️
