I've Enjoyed It

I've enjoyed interacting with you and for the most part, it has been a very positive experience, but IMDb tells us that the message boards like this are shutting down later this month.

So, good-bye and God Bless.

same from me:( About 15 years ago, I "yahooed" Salem's Lot, and was fascinated there was a site to discuss such things among fans. Try to think of me every 11/17 and 11/24, and remember "The Master wants you!", to quote Richard Throckett Straker.

It was fun being able to discuss this movie with people who respect and like it as much as I have.

They obviously want us to move to facebook or twitter but there's no way I'm doing that. I have a twitter account but I mainly follow people and things I'm interested in on a professional level. Not to rant and rave about movies.

God Bless you Gary.

Looks like I will have to bid everyone a fond farewell, and I have to say that over however many years it has been a great deal of fun to interact with people who love and respect different movies as much as I do myself.

Does anyone know the reason why this is happening? What I mean is doesn't the move seem slightly suicidal to the site? it will cause traffic on the site to fall to a trickle, if the only reason to come on to IMDb is to check fact, figures and the technical aspects of movies we love.

Seems like the site has got a death wish or something!

Surely this is an invitation to someone, somewhere who will see the vacuum that this will create and step up with some business idea that will allow them to profit from the lack of a discussion board?

To anyone that I don't get a chance to speak with again, farewell one and all, it has been a great deal of fun to exchange so many varied views and trivia over a number of years.

Cheers to one and all.

Even if the message boards are gone -

Long live Salem's Lot.

I have a conspiracy theory, and it mainly has to do with the recent liberal meltdowns. Call me crazy, but I once thought the media was very honest and trust-worthy at one point.
That never occurred to me, but there could be something to it. In any event, I'll certainly miss these forums.

But it will give me more time to write.

It seems that we can thank the trolls for this decision. It is unfortunate, but it seems like it has just become too expensive. It's sad, really.

The decision appears to mark the latest website to question the value of forums and comments, which can require heavy moderation. Other major websites, such as National Public Radio and Popular Science, have closed their own commenting sections because patrolling them for toxic users became a costly and time-consuming chore.

If the above is the case i.e. trolling causing discussion boards to be closed, then it is a very sad fact of modern day life.

I have to say that I really enjoy it when someone comes up with a topic that nobody had previously thought to mention on a movie, because sometimes it can cause a high level of debate which can be very enjoyable.

It's a real shame to see that become history because of trolling.

I guess that is how life is.

Goodbye and God bless to all of the regular core of contributors on the board, it has genuinely been a lot of fun.

Cheers to one, and all, long may you run.

It is a genuine shame. Anyway, if anyone here wishes to continue contact with me, PM me and we'll take it from there.
