American DJ?
When Jimmy is getting ready to leave for Brighton and is listening to the radio, the DJ has an American accent. What's up?

Back in the sixties there were a few 'pirate' radio stations ie Radio Caroline (god bless her) Radio London and others. Some of these were small ships moored in the North Sea.
There were various international dj'sand some became 'famous' household names.
I was born in 1946 and was a rocker yeeeeeah.
Great times
Some of it may be based on Emperor Rosko, an American who DJ'd on the famous pirate station Radio Caroline from 1964.
"S h i t happens in mysterious ways, its wonders to perform"
If you listen carefully to the jingle playing out while Jimmy is retrieving his stash, he was listening to Radio London.

Examples of some of the jingles the pirates used. http://www.normanb.net/offshore.htm
at the time, it was popular to have American DJ's especially with most of the best music in the early 60s coming from American R&B bands
shareIf you want my opinion the DJ is Dave Cash. Cash was British born but began his career in Canada - hence the North American accent. You can here the "Wonderful Radio London" jingle play and Cash was working for them in the 60's (Quadrophenia being set in 1963) before moving to the pirate station Radio Luxembourg. Still going strong on Radio Kent today. Top man!
Could be completely wrong, mind.
I noticed this American DJ voice as well, and it was very distracting.
shareIt's set in 65.
"Hot lesbian witches!"
