This is one they BETTER not remake!

Well, it's not likely Hollywood would even touch this one. It's not really something they could easily cash in on. The only one likely to remake it is an independent film maker, in which case it's almost 95% likely that the film would be filled with a ridiculous level of violence and brutality under the impression it'll make the film more "deep" and "socially relevant", and also probably revolve it around Facebook to inevitably date itself.

I agree they should NEVER remake this it's the Best!!! Most remakes are awful horrible crap (examples FootLoose remake was pure crap, Friday the 13th remake was boring trash) they need to leave this one alone. It's always been one of my favorites!!!

If Hollywood were to remake this film today it would hardly resemble the 79 classic
First off the soundtrack would most definitely be full of rap and crappy computrized pop music..
The casting would more or less go with a multi-racial cast with the lead Carl character going to the all knowing super cool African American kid maybe played by a young rapper...his high strung violent friend the Matt Dillon would also probably be cast to a African American..I could see the snitch drug dealer character going to a white actor or possibly an Italian or Latino and portray him as a lying two faced scumbag... The Character Claude played by Tom Ferges would also be cast by a effeminate white actor and the would probably make the Character gay... As for the girls the Corey Character probably also gets cast with a white actress so they can have her paired off with the lead black Character ...that's a give in..
Doberman will be cast a black cop who's thoroughly in charge with a white underling deputy to harass beat and eventually shoot one of the kids while the traitor Doberman looks the other way..
Maybe Viola Davis as the lady in the rec center trying to make a difference...
Those poor kids with there $200 sneakers and iPhones ...only this film the kids never leave home.. They live with mom til there 26...and the parents raise the kids babies while they partying at the rec...tough being a baby momma...
Yeah I could see it going down like this..
Probably do real well at the box office...
That's just the way it is these days
