Cory, Claude + Johnny Weren't Sent To The Hill?Spoiler?

How come Cory, Claude and Johnny weren't on the bus that was going to The Hill? They were not ringleaders, but were at the riot. It looked like Carl, Mark, Abby and almost every kid in town was on that bus. I remember thinking to myself when I was a kid what it would be like if most of my crew was sent to juvenile detention.

It's because they weren't there when the cops showed up. If you remember, Claude and Johnny come upon Cory, sitting on the ground and holding her head and Claude asks her what happened and she says something to the effect of "I cant find Carl, this car blew up in my face, and I just wanna go home" So Claude says "Come One, we'll walk you home"

By the time the cops showed up they were gone. And no one ratted them out because as we all know, "A kid who rats on another kid is a dead kid"

Thanks for the reply. I remember that scene. It kind of looked like Claude was trying to make a move on Cory.

It seems hard to imagine sending a busload of kids to The Hill. Wouldn't the cops concentrate on the ringleaders? But it was cool that no one narced on Claude, Cory and Johnny. And it was awesome that they waved goodbye to their friends.

Johnny was a peacemaker. He handed a phone to Julia so she could call for help.

Everybody who was still at the school got arrested and sent "to the hill". Claude, Cory and Johnny left before the cops got there and nobody was willing and able to identify them as having been there so they got away with it. The rest either got nabbed at the scene or could be clearly identified by a witness willing to testify. Hence, Abby, who was seen running with a globe and saying "stick it, you pig" (or something like that) went to the hill, while Johnny who handed Julia a phone (and Julia would never rat on her kids, especially a kid like Johnny who helped rather than hurt the situation) did not. Claude and Cory left before the cops arrived so they did not go to the hill whereas Carl was chasing a kid on Ritchie's bike and thus was still close enough to the scene to get nabbed by Doberman.
