The begining of Generation X

I thought this movie was perfect in portraying the trend that started, especially with suburbanites when kids and teenagers were severely neglected and taking a back seat in society and had their own subculture, with their Silent Generation/Tail End Baby Boomer parents all selfish and clueless.

Many sociologists describe X'ers as having been born from the early 1960's to early 1980's; basically, anybody that was in high school between the late 1970's to late 1990's.

Nowadays, many adults in their 30's and 40's aren't much different than the kids in high school today and dote on their kids and teens!

Classic film; I discovered it on HBO during my own teenage years. My only quip would be: too many Noo Yawk accents for a story set in CA!

But it was a planned community with probably mostly transplants.

^True.

Still, I'm sure Over the Edge rang true (in some ways) to many Generation X'ers. Good film.

When I watched this movie recently, I kept thinking "In two or three years, all of these kids will cut their hair and wear Black Flag t-shirts and go to hardcore gigs."
