I thought that there would be PAGES of topics to read with many interesting discussions! While this film is nowhere near as great or iconic as the 1922 original, it's still good.
Well, if you think about it, the only thing you've brought up to discuss about the movie is there isn't much discussion. So to discuss further a lack of discussion: I thought it was fantastic, but what is there to say beyond what's discussed in the other threads? It was a remake of Dracula, a story/subject that's been done so many times before.
I actually started getting into Herzog's films because I'm a big fan of the band Popol Vuh who did the soundtrack to several of his films. After watching Aguirre, I was like "I've got to see Kinski play Dracula, I'm sure it's amazing." Sure enough, it was, the scene where he's introduced is truly haunting.
I thought it was beautifully done, I thought the acting and visual element was fantastic, as mentioned, loved the soundtrack. But can't think of too left to discussion.
Because the admins delete a lot of the older, often interesting posts, sadly enough.
There were threads regarding why Herzog decided to use the original names of the characters of the Dracula novel in his version of Nosferatu rather than the names of the 1922 version by Murnau, as well as the Lucy/Mina name swapping, and now those threads were deleted.
