Leonard Maltin describes this film as 'spooky and funny'. At first I failed to see what could be called funny about the film, but on further thought I think the final scene where Johnathan turns into the vampire is intentionally funny. Also the manic laughter of the guy in the asylum is quite funny.
Anyone find anything else funny?

shareThe first time I watched it, I certainly found it so camp.... the expression on Adjani's face when she's screaming or terrified, kinski's facial expressions when he entertained harker, and most especially the scenes towards the end when dr. Van Helsing was being arrested were so funny.
The succeeding times I watched it, I could feel the creepiness and menace of the monster. I love the kinski's groans and moans, when he pounces on harker, and the music is just so haunting. So yes I did appreciate this film.
I always laugh in the bathroom scene when Dracula moans and shakes his hand like a cat pawing at a piece of string.

The music at the begining, Renfield´s recurrent annoying laugh, Dracula hiding in the coffin before leaving the castle, Dracula arriving at town and taking his coffins out from the ship, Dracula carrying coffin by coffin from the ship to his house, Dracula´s teeth and nails, Dracula´s voice.
shareThe whole plague angle was pathetically funny. Helsing's character doing nothing, and so on. I'd say in a funny/stupid way, yeah. Kind of a shame, considering how strong it starts out.
