Which is the best ?

Depends, I find them quite different films. In terms of atmosphere or a Ripper movie, it has to be Murder by Decree (which has probably more in common with From Hell). If you're a Holmes purist or looking for something more escapist, then you might think A Study In Terror is better. I would still say that MBD is the better crafted of the two films, despite both having their flaws.

I think that comparisons are a little unfair as ASIT was made on a fraction of the budget of MBD,it had to be as it was made by Tony Tenser's Company ! However both are very entertaining with MBD having a top notch cast and more gravitas,but ASIT having rather more energy.Of course the "solutions" to the Ripper Case in both films are complete tosh.
