Director Bob Clark killed by drunk driver.

Bob Clark, who directed the Sherlock Holmes/Jack the Ripper film 'Murder By Decree', was killed yesterday, (4-4-2007) along with his son when they were hit head on by a drunk driver named Hector Valasquez-Nava. The drunk idiot and his passenger were treated for only minor injuries.

R.I.P. to Bob and his son. Very sad. I'll not forget it. I was watching Murder By Decree for the very first time last night at around 1:00 AM. I don't usually have an interest in films about killers, but I've wanted to know more about the Jack The Ripper story for some time due to the setting, time period, etc. So, I decided on Murder By Decree as the film to order online and watch. I was not disappointed. I was just right now looking around online about the film and the theories and whatnot and heard about Bob Clark's death. He did a real nice job with the film, it wasn't real gory and it had good atmosphere and great actors. Even though the theory advanced isn't as popular now as it was in the 1970's when the film was made, it was very interesting and informative to watch. May both Bob and his son R.I.P.

Just for the record, they were killed by an illegal alien. It's a real shame that there wasn't more attention given to Mr. Clark's death. I think he was a really good filmmaker and MURDER BY DECREE is one of my all-time favorite Sherlock Holmes films. I think it's really, really good.

Yes that was very sad. What I didn't realize was that the man who directed A Christmas Story also directed Murder by Decree.

How very sad - I have just been looking at 'Murder By Decree' and listening to Bob Clark's most interesting commentary. He said that his son was born on the last day of filming, so he would only have been about 29 years old. Very sorry to hear this. A most gifted man - I really enjoyed his work.
