Why did Ron Howard's hair desert his head?

I suppose it was just a family "curse" that all the Howard boys would lose their hair but Ron's really went fast didn't it? He still looks like he had a good head here (although I'm not sure if it's all still his or a carefully applied toupee) but it wasn't too long into the '80s he started wearing that golf cap everywhere and then eventually just admitted he was bald.

Then it happened to "Meathead" Rob Reiner too.

Wow, I can tell TONS of observation and deduction went through your brain before posting this . . . It clearly MUST be some strange curse that has never been heard of before and somehow effected certain males of prime time television in the 70's . . . Never before nor after . . . EVER!!!!

Your mom must be really proud to have such a media gumshoe in the family!
