OK well at the end of American Graffiti they tell what happens to everyone. this movie is only great for a laugh, the highlight is terry the toad but thats like only the first 10 mins of the film. jumps around from year to year no a great linear story. neednt been made. If youve seen American Graffiti dont see this one unless you are not careing about anything else i couldnt take the whole film in it was that disappointing.

Are you guys kidding? This was a great film- no not as good as the first- but it couldn't be-
The jumping between years is a liitle hard to follow, and we are already clued in to the fates of the participants- but I thought it was excellent anyway and had a lot of great moments-
In film classes some instructors used to say that a film shoudn't call attention to itself- and make us aware that we were watching a film- but this sequel does just that brazenly- with the split screens and such- a little like Grand Prix a decade earlier- I thought it captured the spirit of the later part of the sixties- The Candy Clark adventures with the Funky touring band were great- Harrison Ford, now as "Officer Falfa" busting down her latin lover for a joint-
and Steve and Laurie developed predictably- until the "Baby Love" sequence in the cop bus- what's not to like?
The Milner drag racing scenes were much like the Muscle Car era which passed somewhat unexplored by Hollywood- although it seemed to be a huge phenomena while growing up through the '60's.
The Flying Pharoahs, and the death of Bo Hopkins dared to show the realities of the war before even a lot of other films- even if the confrontation of Terry the Toad and his commanding officer stretched credulity- it was a relief to see him surviving, just as it was moving to see the ironic death of Milner-
For those of you who are disenchanted by the "lack of continuity" and the parts of the movie that are filmed in split screen, it appears to be and attempt to mimick the editing methods used in "Woodstock", the film that documented the 1969 event. Since the film takes place in '64-'67, this editing style is in keeping with the era. Of course, that's just my guess and I could be mistaken; I have been once or twice.

Laurie bursting into song was fairly predictable as people who are set in their beliefs can be forced from them if something as revelatious as the peace protest riots are played out in front of them.

I wouldn't call it the worst sequel ever but it is far from the best. The only story that really worked at all was the one in Vietnam, which was shot in the grainy Super-8 format. The segment that was shot in widescreen (the one about the drag racing) was mildly entertaining. It was interesting to see the woman who did the Nivea skin cream commercials in the 1970s in a movie. I didn't like the segment with Ron Howard and Cindy Williams at all. Their fighting and bickering really grated on my nerves. The last one was passable due to the acting by Mackenzie Phillips and Candy Clark but the split screen format got old real fast. The movie is worth watching but does have many flaws.

Now, I just have to say that Ive not seen this movie, and am hoping to get it on DVD in the next few months, so Im not judging this movie at all...Im just stating other sequels that I found to be really disapointing.

Actually, the 'Nam sequences were shot as if by an 84 Charlie Mopic (a military documentary cameraman - see the film "84C MoPic (1989)") - and it's supp[osed to look like high-speed 16-mm colour film. (Super 8 wasn't even introduced until 1965, and, since the original 50-foot Super 8 cartridges only ran about five minutes, it wasn't suitable for pro or semi-pro use until years later when Double Super 8 and 200-foot Super 8 cartridges and cameras that could shoot them were introduced.)

Maybe not the worst ever, but not a good one, badly constructed and plotted, and you know what, a sequel planned right would have been the business, especially if Richard Dreyfuss was in it. Along with "Last Picture Show" "American Graffiti" are two of the best American movies I have seen, pity about the sequels to both (Texasville). shareIn hindsight, the temptation to produce sequels to The Last Picture Show and American Graffiti, two of my favorite films of the 1970s, resulted in disasters.
Unfortunately, I considered the soundtrack to More American Graffiti to be the only redeeming feature of the film.
There are way too many films that never should be ruined by the temptation to produce a sequel or a remake. Not every sequel can be The Godfather: Part II. Not every remake can be The Magnificent Seven.
I doubt that The Next Trial of Atticus Finch would have the same impact as To Kill A Mockingbird, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone has tried to write that sequel.

shareIt's not that bad. Like another poster said, it's a little more downbeat than its predecessor. If you live through the time, More AG can be almost depressing. But it's not that bad a movie.
Besides, its competition for worst sequel is just way too strong to be considered the worst.
In my mind, the worst sequel ever for a major movie was the infamous "Staying Alive", the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever". It's so bad that I keep watching it to see if it gets better, and it doesn't. It's laughable.
Stop hopping on the bandwagon. This is a very well made and entertaining film. The beautiful use of foreshadowing is so painful since we all knew the ending, but despite already knowing how it ends, the film kept you wondering what would happen next. I thought it was great, just not in the same tone as the original. 8/10.

and Zombie Bloodbath 2 & 3, although highly entertaining with bad acting, extremely unrealistic blood and gore, budgets of $5,000 or less, poor scripts and tons of mistakes, is one of the worst (if not the worst) sequels ever.
This was just a (bad) mediocre sequel, I wouldn't consider it one of the worst.
It's a bad movie reguardless though.

shareI had never seen this trash til today. I had forgotten it was even made. You judge a bad sequel by how good the original movie was. And since the original AG was so good, a movie I have watched many times, this sequel is pure crap. It's worse than sequels without the original stars like Grease 2. It made you hate the original movie. Lucas should have let Ron Howard direct it, then we could forgive them for letting a star direct. It would also have been much better. I can't believe Ron Howard and the other's signed on to do this. This was like a bad soap opera. The tag line was "More music, More fun"! Wait where was the fun??? It cost 8 times what AG costs.... why? There was more on location shooting in AG. You saw more of the old California in the original that was shot for peanuts. Burger drive-ins were still big in the late 60's. The orginial was a much bigger movie. I have always read that the reason Lucas made AG was to put heart into his writing and directing. He didn't direct and he only wrote an outline for More AG, but he left the heart out. This movie is just robots doing predictable things and the actors just walking through. I have never seen Ron Howard or Cindy Williams act so poorly and ... Paul LeMat still can't act. I did love the line from Ron Howard, when the cops had him in a choke hold, shouting "I voted Republican." Wow, way to destroy a much loved character. It says that even Lucas hated it. Well if you hated it, then why put it out... this one should have been shelved to save the original.

I just finished watching this on Bravo (Canada), and while it wasn't great I didn't think it was awful either.
I rated it a 6.
The worst sequel I've ever actually seen was The Exorcist 2.
This film was a 10 compared to that piece of crap.
it's not very good, but a long way from being the worst Sequel ever.
