Question about a character

I have this movie somewhere but I don't know where it is now.
I recently saw the commercial for the new movie coming out and I saw the half human half...I forget what amimal.
I think I remember when I used to watch this something bad happened to him? I think I cried sometimes or if he cried in the film...I have no idea.
Would anyone mind telling me what happens between this character and the children?

I think you're talking about Mr Tumnus, who was a satyr and carried lots of parcels. As far as I can remember he got turned to stone, but was alright again at the end so you can stop crying now.

reply

Hah, It was back when I was seven but thanks anyway.
Just curious.

He was a faun actually.
Half man, half goat.

Satyrs are something different. They are the guard-type creatures that stand either side of Aslan.

I think fauns and satyrs are the same thing, it's just one is from Roman mythology and the other Greek, but yes, now you say it I think they do specifically refer to him as a faun in the book.

reply

I'm pretty sure satyrs are like fauns but the other way around, so they have the goat's head.

reply

I've just looked it up and they're exactly the same. It's not a case of bottom half goat, top half human or the other way around, they're an amalgamation of goat and man, so they have the legs of a goat with a mostly human head but goat ears and horns.

reply

Ok, it's just that in the new Narnia movie the satyrs had goat heads. I guess that kind of thing is open to interpretation.

reply

I've not seen the new film, but yes, I suppose messing around with something that never existed in the first place isn't the greatest crime in the world.
